Elizabeth Acevedo, a sophomore at George Washington University and alumna member of our award-
winning Lyrical Circle & International Study Program in Brazil 2006, wrote:

I know first hand how the organization changes lives. That is a point I want to make clear. I
think a lot of organizations are said to save lives but Bro/Sis does not attempt to save lives.
They give youth and their families the resources to change and save themselves. Bro/Sis is
one of the most proactive organizations I know. They are raising independent individuals

The Brotherhood/Sister Sol helped me bridge the gap between my childhood and my
manhood. This organization has helped me make sense of what I've gone through in
the past and has prepared me for my future. Although I am still trying to be a better
man everyday, I am no longer lost in someone else's definition of what an
