Amar’e Stoudemire visits BHSS

New York Knicks star Amar’e Stoudemire visited The Brotherhood/Sister Sol yesterday and gifted Nike shoes, Scholastic books, and Steiner Sports gifts and toys to our members through his Amar’e Stoudemire Foundation. Stoudemire joined in our annual Winter Solstice Celebration, which brings together members, family, and friends to enjoy food and a member talent show. Youth members and alumni ranging in ages from 8 to 22 met Amar’e as he and his family personally gave each member their gifts. Khary presented Amar’e with Bro/Sis gifts (our tee shirts and publication) and spoke about the importance of his visit and support. The Brotherhood/Sister Sol and The Amare Stoudemire Foundation partnered for this toy giveaway because they share a passion for creatively inspiring youth to excel through education and holistic self development.

What brought me to Brotherhood/Sister Sol is that this organization is attempting to find relevant solutions to the desperate situations facing our young people in the community. The services they provide are invaluable. They are a significant island in a vast sea.
We can’t lose one child, not one. And looking at the success of what you’ve done with this organization is amazing. I thank The Brotherhood/Sister Sol for having commitments to both the hood and the soul.
